Gerd Conradt

Gerd Conradt, * 1941, Mark-Brandenburg, grew up in Thüringen. Learnt recorder and was a horn player in an evangelical trombone choir. Since 1955 has lived in (West) Berlin. 1962 studied photgraphy. 1966 Student at the Deutschen Film – und Fernsehakademie (dffb). 1966/67 Organiser of concerts with Musica Elletronica Viva, Rome / Berlin. Intensive friendship and collaboration with the composer and pianist Frederic Rzewski.

From 1980 an author and director of films and TV programmes (documentaries and instruction films).

Since 1989 occupied with overtone music – voices, Shrutibox, Didjeridoo, Jew’s harp, and nose flutes.
Training with Sangit Waldner and Michael Vetter.

1996 Travel to Tuva, meeting with Albert Kuvezin (Yat-Kha). Videofilm “DYNGYLDAI”. Meeting with Stepanida Borisowa (Sacha-Jakutien) Festival of Asian Arts (Hongkong).

1997 Travel to Jakutien, German teacher in “Ünäjis”. Meeting and friendship with Ivan Alexejev and Spiridon Schischigin. Videofilm: “SPIRIDON SCHISCHIGIN” And “OLGA AUS DEM EIS” (Co-Regie Daniela Schulz).

Since 1997 Collaboration with Sören Birke (Mundharmonika, Maultrommel); Duo PREUSSISCHBLAU. CD “PB-PREUSSISCHBLAU”.

1998 International Jew’s Harp Festival, Molln, Austria. Video: “MOLLN 98”.

1999 Curator for the Jew’s Harp, Festival Zungenschlag, Podewil Berlin. Guests: Anton Bruhin, Makigami Koichi, Spiridon Schischigin, Ivan Alexejev, Leo Tadagava.
