Daniel "Danibal" Hentschel

Danibal (a.k.a. Daniel Hentschel). *1977 in Stadtlohn, Germany lives in the Netherlands for more than 20 years.
Danibal is one of the few devoted Jew's harp players in the Netherlands. Rooted in pop culture of the 90's, but fell in love with this ancient instrument, somewhere around 1999 when he started with overtone-singing techniques. His approach is playful and intuitive.
Minimal music with hinches of alpine folk, acoustic noise and (overtone) singing.

Danibal is the vocalist of Dial Prisko. A band from Utrecht (NL) with melancholical pop/rock-songs with a quirky approach and of course flavored with jew's harp. Danibal forms a duo with Dutch comedian Ramon Kool, called Plunk: as far as we know the first human beat box/jew's harp combination. (started somewhere in 2002) In 2008 he started another improvising duo called Heug (with musician Jan Schellink) with lot's of life looping. Danibal also loves to improvise with other musicians.

Beside the musical career he is co-organizer of the cultural foundation het Kaasschaafcollectief (the Cheese-slicer Collective). Organizing several low-profile events with artists, musicians, comedians and writers. Danibal is also making cartoons and comics, which sometimes make there way into small press publications.

He was production assistant for the 5th International Jew's Harp Festival at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, 2006.
